Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Community Consultation and Research
Lamajo organised a major BME
Open Day event in Swansea on behalf
of the SWMCC. The aim of the event was to ensure that BME groups in the
Swansea region, who are underrepresented in the workforce and judiciary
were made aware of the employment opportunities within the organisation
and the requirements and benefits of becoming a magistrate.

Lamajos expertise lies in recognising and understanding some of the key issues, needs and experiences of the BME communities. For example, it is crucial that different BME groups are not classified together, since specific needs can be wide ranging and varied (ie cultural and language) - indeed, some people may feel quite ‘put-out’ when classed as ‘a BME group’.
